New Sporting line up at the g for the Galway Races

Expect the unexpected at the g . The g Hotel announces its action packed Galway Races Summer Programme

Celebrate the 2015 Galway Racing Festival in glitz, glamour and luxury at the g Hotel. The g will be a hive of music and activity throughout the seven day festival, which takes place from Monday 27th July to Sunday 2nd August, but this year they have added a new sporting line up to their team for the week with the addition of an Irish rugby star, a Galway hurling hero and some leading stars from the Irish horse racing industry!

Thursday 30th July is the big day at the g featuring the popular Best Hat competition and now the new Most Stylish Man Competition with a prize value of over €5,000 on the day. Synonymous with style, Ladies Day at the g is the most glamorous night of the year. The g Hotel will be filled with the most sensational style competing for a breath taking bespoke hat by master milliner & Design Director of the g, Philip Treacy. The beautiful hat on offer is described by Philip as a “beret in parisisal with extended ornate buntal ribbons”. The Best Hat event is a must in the social diary of anyone who wants to experience glamour and style at the designer hotel, getting underway after racing at Ballybrit.

In addition to this the g hotel will also will be rewarding the Most Stylish Man in the building with judges from the world of sport, Ollie Canning Galway GAA star and Connacht Rugby Player Michael Swift on board to help select the winner. The prize on offer is Louis Copeland suit generously sponsored by the master tailor plus two tickets to an Irish International rugby match. Judging from 10.00pm with winners announced at 11.00pm.

Stars of the Turf Tipster Brunch is back. Two dates to choose from, Wednesday 29th & Thursday 30th July from 10.30am – 12.30 noon. Each year the g Hotel & Spa host their popular tipster breakfasts with leading stars from the Irish horse racing industry.

This year we have on board National Hunt Jockey Davy Russell & race horse trainer Gordon Elliott. Following entertaining interviews with both, horse racing journalist George McDonagh will provide top tips for the days racing ahead. A sure bet for hotel guests at the g, non-residents can also attend the Tipster Breakfast with pre-booking essential. Guests will also enjoy a breakfast cocktail on arrival, a full Irish breakfast buffet with tea/coffee followed by a return coach direct to the Galway Races.
