Free Seminar - Foundations for Online Success, Galway Tuesday 25th June 2013 at 7.00pm

This is the sixth event of the year, at this meeting some of Galway’s most elite business people and online marketing companies will get the chance to listen to two fantastic guest speakers who will each be offering their unique perspective on Online Marketing. 

Adrian Bannon will be starting of the event with a presentation ‘Starting Small’, talking about how simple changes in philosophy can yield significant results.

Adrian Bannon completed four university degrees by age twenty-two. He is also an author of two books, third due out September 2014. Adrian is a man of many talents, by day he is a lawyer, his passion is social entrepreneurship.

Adrian is a co-founder of CoderDojo Galway, the largest individual dojo in the world and inspiring the next generation of Galway coders, Irish entrepreneurs and digital artists. Adrian also founded the IrishSpring in 2011 - a world first online digital movement that literally mass mobilised thousands of Irish and international users to literally tweet Twitter into setting up a European HQ in Dublin.

Currently, Adrian is the founder and director of Pedagogy Plant - an international tree planting organisation that plants trees of peace and creativity worldwide. founder of Shamrocks of Success - an attempt to sustain jobs and tourist numbers by creating a Hollywood Walk of Fame in Dublin.

David, general manager of Gaumina will follow up with the keynote presentation Foundations for online success”. David has spent nine years of immersing himself in the digital industry. This has given David the expertise in creating all types of digital projects and campaigns.

Gaumina is a Digital Agency who specialise in web / mobile / social. Gaumina is a hotbed of marketing insights, creativity and digital innovation. They are challenge-lovers who relentlessly pursue new ways to excite online audiences.

OMiG would like to thank the Harbour Hotel for its continued support of this next meet up session. In addition to that we have had great help from Castleprint, although we are Online focused we still need business cards and pull up stands. Block5Design have also been an amazing asset, designing our new business cards, pull up stand and soon to be released website.

JCI launch Friendly Business Awards 2013

Junior Chamber Galway have opened registrations for the 2nd edition of the Friendly Business awards 2013.
The Friendly Business Awards seek to recognize and celebrate businesses that go the “extra mile” by continuing to enhance the customer experience without compromising on customer service, despite the current difficult economic climate. Entrants will be judged on the following criteria: customer care & friendliness, eco friendliness, shop layout & design, disability access and finally Digital media, which reflects the importance of user-friendliness of websites, social media and so forth for customers.

So, perhaps it is your favourite shop, café, bar or restaurant that deserves a nomination based on their friendly welcome? Is there a beauticians, DIY store, mechanic or hairdressers that simply put a smile on your face every time you deal with them? If so they deserve your nomination! All businesses that have premises where customers can visit are welcome and encouraged to enter.

Entry is free and to nominate a business (or to nominate your own business), simply send an e-mail to fba@jcigalway.org with details of the business and why you think they/you deserve special recognition as the friendliest business in Galway. All participants will be invited to the awards ceremony in mid August which will be held in Lynchs Castle on Shop street.

OMiG May Meet Up with Marketo's Marketing Director, Liz Smyth and Oisin Browne, Author of The Binman's Guide To Selling

We are excited to announce that with the help of sponsorship from Marketo (European Headquarters) and support from the Harbour Hotel, Galway that the network’s fifth meeting of 2013 will be taking place on Monday 27th May in the Harbour Hotel Galway.

At this meeting some of Galway’s most elite business people and online marketing companies will get the chance to listen to two fantastic guest speakers who will each be offering their unique perspective on Online Marketing.

To start off the night there will be a presentation by Liz Smyth, Marketing Director of Marketo’s European headquarters. Marketo was recently named one of “America’s Most Promising Companies” by Forbes Magazine, the fastest-growing private company of 2011 by the Silicon Valley Business Journal, and the 2011 CRM Market Leaders Awards Winner for Marketing Solutions” by CRM Magazine. In 2012, the company set up their European Headquarters in Ireland’s Digital Hub, Dublin.

Liz Smyth will bring to OMiG’s event what Marketo bring to their channels every day, informative and relevant information about Online Marketing and Sales strategies. There will be a particular focus on Marketing Automation as this is what Marketo do. Marketing Automation is becoming an essential strategy with many companies today and is something that is growing at a rapid pace.

OMiG are delighted that some of this knowledge will be brought to Galway from Marketo’s very own Marketing Director. Liz will be bringing up the important RPI topic; ‘Sales and Marketing Alignment in the Digital Era’.

The network is also excited to welcome back to its May event, the energetic Oisin Browne, Author of 'The Binman's Guide To Selling',  a new book which has received praises from top global business experts Marshall Goldsmith, Libby Gill and Dr Paddy Lund. Oisin brings content marketing to a new level with his accessible and informative read, The Binman’s Guide to Selling. Key chapters include ‘Marketing: Does your Mother get it?', 'Don’t Drop Your Trousers!’; ‘The Secret Language of Selling’; and ‘Break The Year Down To The Day’.
