OMiG Seminar: Protect Your Idea (IP Protection)

OMiG powered by Bank of Ireland are pleased to present our November Meet Up with Mary Flynn of the Irish Patents Office, Sean Cummings of Keltie and Breda Fox, Head of Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office, Galway.

At OMiG we endeavor to keep up with the latest trends in digital by bringing together proven thought leaders to discuss, debate and evaluate current market situations. IP has become a growing issue for companies and needs to be assessed and managed correctly. Join us on Tuesday, November 29th at 18.30 in the Portershed for speakers from the Irish Patents Office and Keltie along with nibbles and beer on the night.

The night will begin with an introduction from Breda Fox, Head of Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office, Galway. Mary has said of tonight’s event “This will be a great event offering practical advice to protect your idea or product. We are delighted to welcome Mary Flynn from the Patents Office back to Galway and their ongoing support for local and innovative Galway businesses”.

Mary Flynn from The Irish Patients Office will provide a general overview of Intellectual Property (IP) consisting of the different types of IP rights i.e. Patents, Trademarks, Designs & Copyright. Have you thought about the branding of your goods/services or the way your product looks?  How do you ensure that the technology you are using in your product or the promotional literature you printed did not infringe on anybody else’s rights?  When you are setting about developing a business idea and establishing and running a successful enterprise, you will have to consider IP as a critical aspect for your business success.

Sean CummnSean Cummings, from Keltie, will bring IP to life. Using real-world examples, he’ll demystify IP and explain why it matters to every business. Sean Cummings is a European patent, trademark, and design attorney. He’s a partner in a leading European IP firm, Keltie, which has recently opened an office in Galway. Sean’s company, Keltie,  was attracted to Galway by the area’s creative energy and by its technologies including IT and medical devices, in which the firm has particular expertise.

After the two speakers, you will have time to ask any questions you may have to our talented lineup. The night will end with Tea, coffee, beer and networking in the Portershed.
